Response to emergency situation

The information in this performance criteria discusses the assessment of an emergency, how to ensure the safety of self, bystanders including casualty, recognising the need of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and how to seek assistance from emergency services.

Code of practice

The idea of a code of practice is important especially in the workplace environment to provide practical guidance for persons who usually have the duty of care as a first aider to manage risks to health and safety as per WHS Act and regulations. It also l provides a useful reference for other persons who are interested in the duties as a first aid provider.

A code of practice is in place to make sure there is adequate first aid provider and facilities in the workplace. This includes information on available first aid kits, procedures, facilities, and training and education of staff and first aiders.
